What is Burn at the Barre?

Based on a fusion of Pilates and classic barre techniques, Burn at the Barre is a perfect blend of deep muscle toning with resistance, the grace of ballet, the flexibility of yoga, and the core strengthening of Pilates. This class builds strength and stamina with intervals of sprints and recovery. Hand weights, a ball, and exercise bands are used to achieve maximum results. No dance experience is required.

Who founded Barre?

The Barre technique has its foundation in traditional ballet and the work of Lotte Berk, a Russian dancer, who developed a protocol for her own rehab after a serious spinal injury. As in Pilates, individual attention from a highly-trained instructor is essential.

How do you "do" Burn at the Barre?

Classes always begin with a warm-up and then transition to a total body workout at the barre. The class progresses on to the mat to tone and trim legs and glutes. Upper-body sculpting work with light dumbbells is also included. The class concludes with deep abdominal work, spinal stability, and an overall flexibility segment.
